雖然Kay的CSL的歷史較為悠久，但由於個人電腦計算能力、以及各種演算法的進步，
在電腦上分析語音已經不是什麼太困難的事情。我自己嘗試過許多語音分析的軟件，
但看來大家比較推崇 praat。一來是功能齊全，二來是跨平台，三來是可以自己寫 script。
最重要的是：它完全免費！

但老實說，我一直不曉得該怎麼念 "praat" 這樣的音。顯然它並不是英文，同時字典裡也查不到。

於是我就在 praat user group 上問了個問題：

而底下則是 Daniel Hirst 的回答，原來 "praat"是荷蘭語的「說」的意思：

"Praat" is Dutch for "speak" pronounced /prAt/ (ie with open back
vowel) (infinitive 'praten')
Mediaeval and Renaissance English used the word "prate" with a
derogative sense "talk foolishly, tediously" and in Modern English
the word "prattle" is still used with a similar meaning.
As far as I know the Dutch word does not have any of these negative
connotations.
The English word "prat" meaning "fool, idiot" is apparently not
related but comes from a slang word for "buttocks" (recorded 1567)

I think the vowel should be long as well so /prA:t/ might be more correct.

neither of the two earlier replies to the list are correct. The vowel is an open front vowel, hence [pra:t] or [pRa:t].
